Forget Start Menu, Icons and Bookmarks with Launchy
Launchy is a free windows utility software that can be used to invoke application with keystroke. Launchy once installed will index all the programs in your start menu and your bookmark items both in firefox and internet explorer. So once your invoke Launchy and start typing whatever program you need to open will be listed below the Launchy box.
By default Launchy hides in the background. You bring it forward by holding the alt key and tapping the space key. You then type in a few keys of the program you are searching for and hit enter once it has been found. You can also make Launchy dissappear again by hitting escape or alt+space.
Launchy is developed for Windows XP, but Josh Karlin gave you a workaround to try out the same in Windows 2000. For that, you need to put the gdiplus.dll [download] and unzipping it into your Launchy directory to get it to run with Win2000. Download Launchy from SourceForge.net
Give Keybreeze a try as well. It’s more configurable than Launchy and also free.
