Control Winamp player from windows system tray

Winamp is the most admired mp3 and music player by most of all the Windows users. Winamp became super hit music player because of three main reason.

  • Appealing and easy to use interface.
  • Freely available mp3 player, with a lot of options.
  • The time it launched to the market.

There are lot of things, that needs to be explored in Winamp preferences. One thing I found interested is adding Winamp play controls to Windows system tray.
It is very simple to accomplish. Just right click on the Winamp player, from the right click Menu traverse to “Options” item and then click “Preferences” in the sub menu of “Options“.

You can also use the keyboard short cut (Ctrl+P) after selecting the Winamp player, to get the “Preferences” window.

From the left side of “Winamp Preferences” window, select the “General Purpose” tree item from the “Plug-ins” tree. This will display the installed general purpose plug-ins on the right side of the “Winamp Preferences” window. Among the displayed plug-ins click the “Nullsoft Tray Control” plug-in.

Then you will get a dialog adding different play controls to the Windows system tray.
