LG announces Dual-format DVD player

LG Electronics built worlds first dual-format DVD player that plays both next-gen Blu-ray disks and HD-DVD disks. Blu-ray and HD-DVD disks can both store high definition images because their storage capacity is larger than existing DVD disks. However, they needed separate players because their technologies are different. The new player will ease consumer confusion over what kind of DVD player to buy. LG would unveil their new product at the 2007 International CES in Las Vegas January 8. This dual-format DVD player is expected to hit the market in the first half of the year.
